Xavier tells them that will track him down and find out how he did this. Dave encourages Kyle that they’ll talk with Nurse Calver and hopefully she’ll be able to help. Xavier leaves and meets up with Maddie. Who is on her sixth cup of coffee trying to drown out her worry and stress cause she hates feeling helpless. Livia returns Simon’s iPad to Nicole, letting her know that she doesn’t like to be played.
Maddie talks with Simon, Wally, Rhonda, Charley, Quinn, Mr. Martin, and Yuri in the greenhouse. Simon confirms that Van Heidt locked the kids in the basement. Maddie tells them that Kyle was body snatched. Which is good news as the body snatcher is a council member and he could help them not demolish the school to give the ghost more time. They all wonder how would the conversation even go it’s been two decades. Mr. Martin think they’ll learn more in the scar if they go about it the right way. Maddie is concerned for Simon. His time in that scar has been affecting him. Simon seems out of it when Quinn apologizes to him. For hitting him with the board. It seems like he’s forgotten about it. Maddie request that he spend a couple more hours resting before going back down there. Maddie asks to talk to Wally alone.
During their talk, Maddie confesses that she feels like she’s been having dreams to Wally. While he thinks it could be based on that trauma she went through. They talk about what they would do if they could touch each other. Martin tells Rhonda, Charley, Quinn and Yuri that they are not giving up. Mr. Martin knowing he might never get his door because of what he’s done not just in life but also afterlife. He gives them a very impactful speech on how each of them has grown and what they taught him. Charley heads to find out how much time they have. Yuri goes with him to make sure he doesn’t spiral even more. Rhonda, Simon, and Mr. Martin head to the church scar. Quinn decides to stay behind.
After leaving the library Charley spirals as he looks for answers about the demolition. Yuri suggests that maybe they should take Mr. Martin’s advice to go back to their scar and see what they can find. In the midst of Charley’s right to his emotions Yuri wants to find the right words to make it better and speaks from his heart. Simultaneously, Rhonda, Simon and Mr. Martin go back into the scar. Simon finds some sheet music and starts to hum the song. Rhonda is pulled into the pool of water and so is Mr. Martin when he tries to help her. They end up knocking over a book cart when they are appear in front of Quinn.

Simon learns that White Eyes is alive like he is in ghost world. Rhonda is distraught at the thought of being stuck in that scar if the school is gone forever. In addition, Rhonda comments on how off the scar is. Distorted in a way. Mr. Martin and Wally head back to the scar for Simon through his scar. Attending a city council meeting, Maddie and Xavier learn that Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price is trying to move up the demolition of the school. Principal Hartman stands in opposition. Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price encourages the demolition of the school saying that Hartman has no idea what is under the school.
The city council is worried about the cost of moving the students from their current school. She replies that someone on the council might be very generous to cover the cost. K.C. Jensen shows up. Xavier and Maddie really want to talk with him so they plan to meet at the school later in the afternoon. White Eyes shows Simon what happened the day of the flood and after. Wally pulls him back but Simon needs to learn what it means and grabs White Eyes head this time going deeper. Suddenly Simon passes out from this action. He awakes in the bunker with Maddie, Xavier and the other ghost surrounding him.
Kyle and Dave visit Nurse Calver and she confirms that Kyle must’ve been the one “he” took. Kyle learns that there are hidden rooms. Each ghost has their own room that they can visit their memories. Nurse Calver tells them her door was open however, no one but herself had her key. She tells them about her theory that someone from beyond their world had gotten in. They asks how could someone get into her room without her key? She tells them there’s another way.
In short, Simon tells them that White Eyes isn’t Van Heidt. White Eyes was the pastor. He believed he was protecting the children. He was able to see them after they died just like Simon was able to see Maddie. To clarify that White Eyes is alive just like he is. Somehow he got trapped beyond the veil. To learn more going back is the only way to get the answers they need. Maddie says how about she talks with K.C. Jensen at his place if he won’t come here. Now knowing his secret, Mr. Martin confronts Wally about his door. Maddie and Simon want to help each other desperately and try to get the other not to put themselves in danger. However, Simon concludes that knowing who they both are they are going to do it any way.

Yuri, Rhonda, Mr. Martin, Wally and Charley all stand on the balcony above the church scar. Simon cues Quinn to play music. Mr. Martin figures out what the drawings were for. To illustrate not only the children’s story but his own that he was forgetting. Van Heidt’s presence in suddenly triggered the children’s scar and a lightening storm happened outside the church. In doing so the pastor became trapped while Van Heidt disappeared. Into Ralph’s body possibly. Mr. Martin sees Ralph. Simon tells White Eyes he remembers the children. Understanding his grief was keeping him trapped. Suddenly a flood of water burst through the windows catching Simon by surprise. Unable to stop or grab onto anything he ends up falling into the pool of water. The ghost chase after him and end up in the library on top of each other but no Simon.
Maddie asks Claire and Nicole to watch over Simon saying she doesn’t want them to put any more people at risks as she and Xavier heads to K.C. Jensen’s house. Nicole and Claire follow behind them anyway. Despite K.C’s best efforts, Maddie calls him out for who he really is after seeing his ring. Alfred Van Heidt. Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price and Livia drive up to the house so she can get the donation from K.C. Livia tries to get her mom to see what she found out about Maddie but she doesn’t care about Maddie Nears. Only about looking after her best interest. Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price rings the door bell. Nicole and Claire watch from afar to make sure they aren’t spotted.

The tension has risen only broken when the doorbell rings. Van Heidt gets up to see who it is but Maddie doesn’t hear any voices. They discover that Van Heidt took off running through his backyard and fields. Maddie chases after him. Xavier runs after her trying to get her to stop as he sees K.C. is now armed. K.C. encourages Maddie to chase him through the corn maze. Nicole and Claire hearing Xavier yelling after Maddie follow behind. During her chase after Van Heidt, she starts to have visions and is back in her scar in the boiler room. She sees Van Heidt how he looked when he died and he tells her she is lucky. Right before he shot himself in the leg and stepped through the hospital door in the scar. When Xavier, Claire and Nicole find Maddie she’s holding Kyle’s body as his leg is bleeding.

Review: Did Van Heidt Escape Back to the Hospital or into Maddie’s Body?
The longer Simon stays in ghost world since he is alive the more he might also forget things. We see the effects of what losing his connection to the human world is having on him. Here or there but soon it could progress rapidly. When an alive person crosses the veil into the ghost world what happens if they never are able to get back to the land of the living? Seems as we learned in this episode if there’s more than one way to get into someone’s room without there key. There’s more than one way to become Forgotten.

We’re seeing the parallels between Simon and White Eyes more and more. What is keeping Simon trapped is his guilt. Either towards not being there for Maddie, not wanting to disappoint his sister for being the reason they lost their mother, etc. There appears to be something sinister at work when it comes to Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price. Is there a possibility a spirit is taking over her body as well? It could be what is motivating her demolish the school. To sever her connection to it?
We now know where that door leads in Maddie’s scar. It’s a hospital door. Which is where Van Heidt returned to. The last vision we saw in episode 5, there was a door that appeared in her boiler room scar. That door looks like one at the hospital. So did Van Heidt enter Maddie’s body or return to the hospital? Both options are terrifying.
There are only TWO episodes left and we’re on the edge of our seats to see if Maddie and Simon will get to graduate Split River High and the ghost.
