Author, Robert Smith, brings together a host of 125 talented authors, including Barbara Hambly, Daniel Blythe, Jonathan Blum, and Kate Orman, and turns them loose on the modern Doctor Who episodes. Which, when you think about it, is cheaper than therapy (Moffat!!!). 125 episodes are revisited, from Rose to Last Christmas, each with its own perspective and format. There is everything from emails to journal entries to essays to wedding vows, all written with a unique voice. There’s even a song for those who can read music! Bathrooms are a nasty place to keep books, but each chapter is a rather good length for, well, a visit to the porcelain throne. Consider making this book your own “companion” to take with you on your next trip.
Dedicated Whovians and those new to the show will all delight in the reviews within these pages. There’s something here for every fan. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments as well as some poignant ones (Vincent and the Doctor, anyone?) Take a walk down memory lane. Look at your favorite episode, Doctor, or companion from a different point of view, from the 9th Doctor and Rose to the 12th Doctor and Clara. It is a fun romp through space and time and a very welcome addition to every Whovian’s bookshelf, along with Outside In Volume 1, which contains stories and reviews of the classic Doctor Who episodes and is found in a different review altogether.
Outside In Volume 2 can be purchased on ATB Publishing’s website (www.atbpublishing.com) and Who North America (http://www.whona.com). Check with your local independent bookshop as they should be able to order a copy for you as well. 5% of the cover price is donated to Avert, a UK-based charity that helps to educate people around the world about HIV and AIDS.
