Playing Dead with Michael Nathanson

Los Angeles Comic-Con was filled with incredible panels, amazing art, and truly wonderful people. In all of the nerd chaos, we spoke with Michael Nathanson. Michael suffered from an on-screen character death on Netflix’s The Punisher. That inspired him to want to talk to other actors that portrayed characters that died on screen.

Interview with Michael Nathanson

Playing Dead, Michael Nathanson’s new podcast from Lionsgate Sound, premiered on November 29th with two episodes. It explores not only the deaths of characters themselves, but also the actors that portrayed them. He has already interviewed Shannon Purser, Dante Basco, Amanda Wyss, Ben Barnes, and David Dastmalchian. He also did a live podcast episode at LACC with Keith David.

This one-of-a kind podcast is a mashup of a celebration of geekdom and the eulogy the actors were never able to give for their legendary characters. Each conversation is an emotional roller coaster as talking about the role leads to a larger discussion about the actor’s life and career that led to that moment.”

Michael talked about everything, from pineapple on pizza, to how it feels to be a grown up nerd, and his message was clear: All Belong Here. Michael, like most of the talent at LACC, wants to instill the message in fans that they are all welcome and they all belong. Michael Nathanson and the talent like him made Los Angeles Comic Con such a wonderful experience for everyone who got the opportunity to go.
