LACC: Putting the Comic Back in Comic Con

Picture this, walls and walls of comic book issues: new releases, back issues, and indie comics. A never-ending cascade of stories and impeccable art. One of the biggest complaints about comic book conventions (besides the expense and difficulty in getting tickets, problems LACC doesn’t have) is that comic books don’t have much of a presence anymore.

Conventions like WonderCon and San Diego Comic-Con  generally have an incredible industry turnout centering on film and television, but the core of how they started is gone. However, at Los Angeles Comic Con, they are putting the comic back in comic con. So, if you are one of those people who have been missing the comic book aspect of conventions, this weekend LACC is your solution.

A comic book exhibitor displays rows and rows of comic books at LA Comic Con.

The event features over 800 artists and exhibitors this year, many of them independent creators and comic book shops. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the South Hall and find new (or very, very old) comics. So, if you need your comic book fix, head to the South Hall and expore aisles 1800-2400.

You will find better deals on back issues than you would in any comic book shop or online. Whether you are trying to finish a collection or start one, Los Angeles Comic Con is the place. Not only will you find an incredible selection of comics and graphic novels, you will be able to consult extremely knowledgeable exhibitors who are there to answer any questions you might have.

A business card advertises the comic book store McFlys Comics.

Welcome to the next phase of your comic book collection. While you’re at the convention, buy everyone in your life the best of nerdy gifts. Or maybe start a new collection with LACC’s many, many comic book vendors. Perhaps you’ll even discover a new comic book shop near you.
