Gallifrey One is the largest and longest-running Doctor Who convention. This year marked the 33rd convention. Each year, Gallifrey One attracts cosplayers from around the world. One group of cosplayers chose to create a mash-up of Sk8 the Infinity cosplay and Doctor Who.
Sk8 the Infinity Cosplay x Doctor Who
Doctor Who is a British science-fiction show that has been on the air since 1963. It follows the travels through time and space of an alien from the planet Gallifrey called, “The Doctor.” The Gallifrey One convention brings fans from around the world to celebrate their love for this show and its characters. This year, one group of cosplayers combined characters from the anime Sk8 the Infinity with their favorite Doctor Who characters.
Cosplay, or “costume play,” is a way for fans of television shows, movies, comics, and other pop-culture media to express their love of their favorite characters. Because Gallifrey One is a Doctor Who convention, these cosplayers put a spin on their favorite Sk8 the Infinity characters by adding Doctor Who cosplay components.
Reki Kyan, Langa Hasegawa, Cherry Blossom, Joe, and Miya Chinen are five of the main characters from Sk8 the Infinity. In this mash-up group, Reki is combined with the 9th Doctor, and Langa is dressed as Rose Tyler. The Cherry Blossom cosplayer is wearing one of the 10th Doctor’s suits, while Joe is combined with River Song. Miya chose to combine their character with K-9.
