The trailer reveals a new mission for the crew after becoming warrant officers in Season 1 under the mentorship of Admiral Kathryn Janeway. In addition, the trailer reveals the return of some familiar faces teased in season 1. These are faces that longtime Trek fans have come to know, especially stemming from the Star Trek: Voyager fandom.

The synopsis for season 2 provides some very interesting insight to what adventures lay ahead for the crew.

“In season two, these six young outcasts who make up the Prodigy crew are assigned a new mission aboard the USS Voyager-A to rescue Captain Chakotay (voiced by Robert Beltran) and bring peace to Gwyn’s home world. However, when their plan goes astray, it creates a time paradox that jeopardizes both their future and past.”

The trailer further reveals a slew of familiar alien races and a few nods to the legacy of Star Trek by introducing new ships, new aliens, new technology, a whale-like creature,  exploring new planets and phenomena, and Janeway’s continuing fondness of coffee. The crew of the Protostar also don some fresh new uniforms to go along with their status as warrant officers (non-commissioned crew members of Starfleet) However, Murf will appear in his more evolved state. It also appears that timelines and paradoxes, one of Star Trek’s biggest tropes will play a major part in season 2. It will be interesting to see how it will be handled with the young and ambitious crew. Furthermore, it will also be very interesting to see how the two ships on the series, the U.S.S. Protostar and the U.S.S. Voyager-A revealed at the end of Season 1, will play a vital role in the overall storyline of this upcoming season.

Recurring and Returning Cast Revealed
