The Hollywood Bowl is currently celebrating Academy Award-winning films and iconic scores by some of the biggest names in film music. John Williams has Oscar®-winning scores for Star Wars: A New Hope, and Oscar®-nominated score for Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back. This summer the Hollywood Bowl will be presenting these movies in full on the Bowl’s giant screen with the orchestra performing the score live. COSPLAY IS ENCOURAGED! 2018 marks the 40th Anniversary of Willams’ Bowl debut, and celebrations are programmed throughout the summer season. You can head down to the Bowl for two nights each of George Lucas’ Star Wars: A New Hope (Tuesday and Friday, August 7 and 10), and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Thursday and Saturday, August 9 and 11), with David Newman leading the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the two blockbusters’ countless unforgettable movie music moments. The celebrations culminate with three nights of John Williams: Maestro of the Movies, featuring famous selections from Williams’ incomparable film music. Both David Newman and John Williams will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic for these special performances.
