Raymond Montemayor talks about his award winning Star Wars short film

The Star Wars fandom never ceases to amaze us. The creativity that comes from this fandom is so inspiring. In today’s episode, we speak to fan film creator Raymond Montemayor. He has created an award-winning fan film series called Star Wars Toy Stories.

His latest fan film, STAR WARS: THE TOYS AWAKEN, won Best Stop Motion and Spirit of Fandom at the STAR WARS FAN AWARDS 2018. He discusses with us how he became a fan film creator, his love of Star Wars and both the challenges and upside of bringing his ideas to life.

Star Wars: A Toy Story (2015), was a finalist and nominated for Best Visual Effects at Lucasfilm’s 2015 Star Wars Fan Film Awards. Our second film, The Rogue One: A Star Wars Toy Story (2016), was produced for Lucasfilm’s #GoRogue contest. Our three films have garnered 26 awards from 80+ film festivals across the US and overseas.

Raymond Montemayor was an electric engineer who made the jump to becoming a motion graphics designer. He is currently creating amazing Star Wars fan art and using that art to raise funds for charities like Make-A-Wish Foundation and Starlight Children’s Foundation.  You can also check him out below where he was interviewed on The Star Wars Show LIVE! at Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019.
