Warning: This review of The Good Place: The Answer will not only contain spoilers, but it will also include a lot of me screaming and crying of joy. You have been warned.

In this episode, Chidi finally gets his memories back, which he needs to SAVE HUMANITY. His memories start with him as a little baby. The cutest baby ever, may I add. Not much is to be said about that clip though, all babies are cute. So let’s fast forward.

The next clip we get is of Chidi as a little boy. We learn that Chidi made an hour long, university style, presentation about why his parents should stay together. This is absolutely adorable but slightly upsetting. Go play with Legos, little Chidi. Something like this is far too heavy for a little kid. It’s clear that even as a kid, Chidi has always been…Chidi. This presentation seemed to be a success, and Chidi came to the conclusion that he can always find “the answer.” I wish it was that easy, bud. This seems like the kind of thing Chidi would’ve spoken about in afterlife therapy when it came to finding the route of his deep problems.

Fast forward again to Chidi being an adult.

He’s on a date with his girlfriend at his parents’ house (they’re still together!).  Chidi explains that the presentation he made as a kid is the reason he got into moral philosophy, if that wasn’t obvious. Turns out though, his girlfriend breaks up with Chidi after dinner. Literally rest in peace, she was pretty. It seemed that Chidi cared more about morals than he cared about her, though, so I get why she left. Chidi’s pal tried to explain to Chidi that there is no answer to all of life’s questions, but Chidi is having none of that. While they argue about that, an office thing of some sort falls on Chidi’s head and he DIES, but you all knew that was going to happen.

Now onto the good stuff. WELCOME TO CHELEANOR CENTRAL STATION BABY. We learn that in one reboot, Chidi’s “soulmate” is this weird girl called Esmeralda who’s obsessed with Ravens for some reason. She seems slightly scary and clearly not a good match for Chidi. How he didn’t realise he’s in the Bad Place at that point I’ll never know. In that reboot though, Chidi and Eleanor get close by playing charades together, and it is adorable. Eleanor and Chidi have one of the cutest scenes in the entire show and I DIED. I MISSED THEM SO MUCH EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THIS IS JUST A REBOOT. Chidi stays faithful to raven lady though and doesn’t make out with Eleanor. Lame. Give me Cheleanor content or give me death.

In the next scenes though, they actually ARE TOGETHER. THANK THE LORDS. Eleanor says this one line that says “I’m here for you, what do you need” and I can almost assure you that that line was added by Kristen Bell. It mimics her favourite line from Frozen 2 with Anna and Kristoff. It’s basically the exact same line. I see you, Kristen.

The Answer is Eleanor

The next scenes are my absolute favourite things to ever happen, so brace yourself. Before Chidi got his memories erased, he spoke to Michael about whether soulmates are actually real. Michael says he doesn’t think they’re real and that the “soulmate” idea from the Bad Place was actually just a method of torture for Chidi. He says that soulmates are not found, they’re made. Chidi finally realises that there is no answer to life’s problems. He calls Janet and asks for a pen and paper, where he writes a super important note based on his new revolutions.

FINALLY, CHIDI IS BACK WITH HIS MEMORIES.

Now that he’s back, Chidi asks for the note that he gave to Janet. He opens it and it says: (BRACE YOURSELF FOR THIS) “THERE IS NO ‘ANSWER.’ BUT ELEANOR IS THE ANSWER.” GOODBYE. GOOD-HECKING-BYE. I HAVE DIED. MY FUNERAL WILL BE HELD NEXT WEEK. PLEASE INVITE KRISTEN BELL.

This is it. This is the best episode of all time. The episode was the best episode of anything to grace television. Frankly, this show is too good for television. This show should be aired at the gates of heaven. Chidi and Eleanor are the best couple to EVER EXIST. THANKS. I’M DONE NOW. BYE.
