WonderCon took place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California the weekend of March 24-26. Every year, this particular convention brings out a lot of incredible cosplayers. With fandoms ranging from Marvel to anime, Doctor Who to Star Wars, and everything in between, there were so many cosplays to see. Below is some of the WonderCon 2023 cosplay we captured over the weekend.
Cosplay, or “costume play,” is all about bringing your favorite characters from media to life. Cosplay not required for attending conventions, but it is a fun way to foster community and creativity. Whether you find items from your closet or do elaborate builds, cosplaying can help you express your love for the characters that are important to you.
At WonderCon, a popular place for cosplayers to gather for meetups is the fountain in front of the convention center. Cosplay meetups are fan-run gatherings that happen across a lot of different fandoms. WonderCon is a unique convention for cosplay. Cosplayers come from all over to show off their creativity from mashup cosplays to epic builds.
Since 2012, WonderCon Anaheim, now known as Comic-Con International Presents WonderCon Anaheim, has been held in Southern California at the Anaheim Convention Center. It is the sister show to Comic-Con and gives attendees a way to embrace all of the main aspects of San Diego Comic Con. This includes comics, movies, TV, animation, cosplay, and more.
This year, the cast of Knights of the Zodiac were in attendance. Also, the cast of Quantum Leap came out for a panel over the weekend. Funko celebrated their 25th birthday with exciting giveaways and sneak peeks at new arrivals for the Funko and Loungefly brands. Among the sneak peek announcements was the addition of Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr to the Funko family. He was surprised on stage with a sneak peek of a Pop modeled after him.
