Wizards of the Coast is launching their own Dungeons & Dragons actual play, which will tie directly into official D&D material. The first campaign is set in Ravenloft, incorporating elements from the soon-to-be-released “Ravenloft: The Horrors Within.” The series, “Dungeon Masters,” is perfect for veteran players and newcomers curious about Dungeon & Dragons. With helpful tips, graphics for helpful visuals, and players of all experience.
The star-studded cast includes veteran Dungeon Master Jasmine Bhullar (“DesiQuest,” “Dimension 20“) along with players Devora Wilde (“Baldur’s Gate III”), Neil Newbon (“Baldur’s Gate III“), Christian Navarro (“13 Reasons Why,” “Critical Role“), and Mayanna Berrin (“Dispatch,” “The Dungeon Run”). “Dungeon Masters” will debut on April 22 with the first two episodes. During a Q&A for “Dungeon Masters,” Berrin shared her insight into her character.
“I have my first D&D character I ever made, who was a character Lolth and she has a very tragic backstory. So, I asked if I could kind of do a reflavoring of her for this show. So, it was really fun to take one of the first characters I ever played in a home game and get to take all of the things I’ve learned since doing actual play to give her a new life in this show.”
In an exclusive interview with Temple of Geek, Mayanna Berrin shares insight into her “Dungeon Masters” character. Inspired by her first Dungeons & Dragons character, Berrin adapted it to fit this story. She also explained how this showed her own growth as a player and storyteller.

Doing actual play specifically, you think about so many things. Not only telling a story as a player, but how you wanna tell a story for a consumption audience. And so how do I take the things that I know about the character? How do I reveal them in interesting ways? How do I lean on Jasmine to help reveal things about the character in interesting ways to the rest of my party?
Because I learned something a long time ago, which is if you didn’t say it at the table, it’s not true. And so, how do I take the things that I know about Wesley and make sure everybody else knows them so they can use that as something to play with as we continue along. And I think being a baby player, I didn’t know that yet. And so it’s fun to take that.
Berrin, adapting Wesley to fit the world and narrative of “Dungeon Masters” is the perfect way to celebrate Dungeons & Dragons. It highlights Berrin’s evolution as a player and storyteller while reflecting on the love she had from the start of playing. While the character has changed, including the God they worship and the story they are telling, the blueprint remains.
“Dungeon Masters” is not just a way to spotlight how official Dungeons & Dragons tools and products are key to telling great stories. It is also a celebration of Dungeons & Dragons and how it has progressed over the last fifty years. Berrin’s character, Wesley, perfectly fits into the world of Ravenloft and the horror adventure that Bhullar is taking the players on.
