Lady of the Lanterns Review
As someone who has never experienced the video game side of the franchise, nor have I read any of the other comics I am completely enthralled with the latest addition to the series.

The first notable thing about Lady of the Lanterns is that no previous knowledge or context is necessary. It truly is a stand alone story. So, if you are like me and you know absolutely nothing about this world, then you can still jump right in and enjoy the story.
In addition to the artwork being incredible, the story itself is grounded and emotional. A pandemic sweeps the city and threatens an already broken family. The relationships were introduced quickly but in a way that makes you feel instantly connected to these characters. Opening on two siblings that are forced to take care of themselves while their father is in town, they are met with the horrors that the Lady of the Lanterns brought to their city. After already losing their mother, the two children really only have each other. They take care of a hunter who has a gruff idea of survival that ends up tearing these two apart. With hunters fighting off beasts of the scourge, the action is immediate and transportive. Bloodborne has really mastered the fantasy genre. This story really has something for everyone. It is a character driven story set in a world with high stakes, which is really the best opportunity for an amazing story.
If you are at all interested in monsters, magic, and fantasy driven stories, then this new Bloodborne series is the story for you. Lady of the Lanterns is an amazing addition to the franchise and I truly believe everyone should give it a read.
