Josh sits down and chats with Award-winning composer Kevin Kiner about how he started out in music. Additionally, they discuss how he ended up as a composer, and what his experience has been working with Sylvestor Stallone for the Samaritan film. Annie Award-winning composer Kevin Kiner has also been honored with multiple Emmy and other Annie Nominations, and won 20 BMI Film & TV Awards, making him one of the most versatile and sought-after composers in Hollywood. For more than a decade, Kiner has been able to work with some of the best storytellers in geek. Kiner has worked with George Lucas and Dave Filoni, Kevin scored all seven seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which earned him the 2021 Annie Award for “Best Music TV/ Media” for the series finale episode “Victory and Death”, as well as a Primetime Emmy nomination.
No stranger to the superhero genre, Kiner has a diverse list of credits. You’ve heard his work on HBO Max’s Peacemaker, Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico, HBO Max’s Titans, and Doom Patrol. Additionally, he’s worked on Showtime’s City on a Hill, AMC’s hit series Dark Winds and Hell on Wheels, CBS’s CSI: Miami, and CW’s Jane the Virgin.
Samaritan
Samaritan will launch globally on Prime Video on August 26th. The story centers around thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) who suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding.
The film is directed by Julius Avery and Written by Bragi F. Schut. It also stars Sylvester Stallone, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias.
