From Apple Original Films and the filmmakers of Top Gun: Maverick comes the feature film F1. Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was Formula 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s. That was until a track accident nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling Formula 1 team. The team is on the verge of collapse and Ruben convinces Sonny to return to Formula 1 for one last shot at saving the team and becoming the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him, and he finds that in Formula 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition—and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
What We Know About the Film:
The trailer begins with Cervantes discussing Hayes’ past. He describes Hayes as struggling with a gambling addiction who missed his chance and now lives in his van. Despite this, Cervantes sees Hayes’ potential and envisions a great team-up between the rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) and the veteran racer Hayes.
F1® also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Kosinski, and famed Formula 1® driver Lewis Hamilton. Also on the producing team are Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, and Chad Oman.

F1 Starring Brad Pitt hits theaters and streaming this summer
Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film worldwide in theaters and IMAX, starting domestically on June 27, 2025, and internationally on June 25, 2025.
Apple TV+ offers some of the best film and television media of all the streaming platforms. Although a lot of their work goes unnoticed because, unlike some of the bigger streaming platforms, they don’t advertise or push their programming as strongly. Even some of their most incredible shows, like “Acapulco“, although critically acclaimed, rarely get the audience recognition it deserves. Apple Original films, documentaries, and series have been honored with 553 wins and 2,562 award nominations. Including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and historic Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA.” Which is why I think this film has the potential to be a great story. It’s got a great cast. The visuals are stunning in the trailer, as is the costuming.
Film scenes were shot during the 2023 British Grand Prix, with fictional Mercedes-AMG race cars driven by professionals, which lends itself to some visually stunning cinematic moments, at least based on what is seen in the trailer. The trailer’s music evokes Marvel Avengers vibes, likely chosen for its epic impact. We will see if the story delivers when it hits theaters on June 27, 2025.
