The Brooklyn Museum is making a major splash at Anime NYC, held from August 20 through August 23, 2026, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (445 11th Ave, New York, NY). Taking up residence right in the center of the action at Booth 2030, the museum is offering fans an exclusive preview of Art of Manga, opening this October. Marked as the first major exhibition in the Americas to explore manga purely as an art form, this landmark presentation highlights iconic original artwork and traces the global culture of Japanese graphic storytelling.

At Booth 2030, convention-goers can preview artwork highlights from iconic series including Inuyasha, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, ONE PIECE, and many more. Alongside the visual previews, fans can participate in free interactive booth activities. Including taking photos with iconic manga character backdrops and crafting custom buttons featuring their favorite characters to wear throughout the convention.

Supporting Cultural Connections: Japan Society & Anime NYC
Anime NYC, created by LeftField Media and driven by dedicated fans, continues its strong tradition of supporting local Japanese cultural institutions. This year, the convention highlights its non-profit partner, Japan Society. Founded in NYC in 1907, Japan Society operates year-round to foster deep connections between New York and Japan. They do so through language lessons, live theater, contemporary art, and North America’s largest Japanese film festival, which showcases over 60 screenings annually.

Japan Society has long served as a key East Coast hub for premier anime events, hosting North American and East Coast premieres for major releases such as The Boy and the Heron, Godzilla Minus One, Shin Kamen Rider, Blue Giant, The First Slam Dunk, and special screenings like Angel’s Egg with Yoshitaka Amano in person. Anime NYC attendees can directly support Japan Society’s ongoing educational and film programming by making an optional donation during their badge purchases.
Be sure to stop by Booth 2030 during Anime NYC weekend to make custom buttons, snap a photo, and grab a Manga Fan Pass before the Art of Manga exhibition opens to the public this fall!
