Following the show’s return on New Year’s Day, BBC AMERICA has partnered with BBC Studios and Fathom Events to bring Doctor Who back to the big screen on Sunday, January 5. This one-day-only special event featured the premiere episode and exclusive early unveiling of the second episode of the new season. The episode was simulcast to over 600 cinema screens nationwide. After the screening, audiences were treated to a LIVE Q&A with Jodie Whittaker, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill, transmitted from The Paley Center for Media in New York.

During the live Q&A, Jodie Whittaker read off a few of the theater’s names and cities. She thanked fans for coming to see the special event screening. There was also a special Happy Birthday surprise for Mandip Gil. Audiences across the United States joined in and sang “Happy Birthday” to her. The audience at the Paley Center was given birthday hats to wear.

Absent from the press tour is co-star Bradley Walsh who plays Graham O’Brien, one of the Doctor’s best friends. No official word on why he isn’t currently traveling with the rest of the team. It can be assumed that he is busy working on other projects at the moment. He was also absent at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 when the team came to the United States for the 11th season premiere.
