The world awaits Amazon Prime’s Rings of Power, a story set in the universe of Lord of the Rings. With a large legacy to live up to, the Rings of Power cast and crew attended a red carpet premiere in Mexico City. Held in a historic, 18th century convent school, a middle earth inspired world was constructed for a fully immersive experience.
Rings of Power Premiere
The screening of the first episodes of Rings of Power were preceded by remarks given by the head of Prime Video, Jen Salke, the showrunner, Patrick McKay, and the director of the first two episodes, JA Boyana. The audience was full of Amazon executives, the cast of the show, and 100s of dedicated and excited fans.
Although the series is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings, audiences will see some familiar characters from both the big screen and the book. Starting in a time of peace, the series takes viewers on a journey through a reemergence of evil, power struggles, hope, and destruction across the widest reaches of middle earth. The series promises epic rises to power, kingdom’s falling to ruin, and in true Tolkien fashion, the emergence of unlikely heroes.
Amazon has already built anticipation past this first season. The company told Esquire that they are planning on 5 seasons in order to explore as much of Tolkien’s rich history as possible. So don’t expect a self contained, short, neat and tidy story all wrapped up at the end of season 1.
Rings of Power premiers on Amazon Prime on Friday September 2nd and is launching in 240 countries in multiple languages. Episodes will be released weekly. If you are simply too impatient and can not wait until this series comes out, then the soundtrack is out now on streaming services.
