Netflix announced that breakout star Regé-Jean Page, who played the extremely appealing Duke of Hasting, will not be reprising his role for the second season of Netflix’s hit historical drama, Bridgerton. The series is meant to follow the Bridgerton children as they look for suitable matches. This makes Page’s story a one-season arch.
Netflix will also begin developing a live-action film based on Keanu Reeve’s comic book BRZRKR. Reeves will star in and produce the project. BRZRKR is a twelve-part comic about an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year fight through the ages. It is published by BOOM! Studios.
The epic journey to the series finale of AMC’s smash hit The Walking Dead will begin Sunday, August 22. This was announced in a new teaser that ran during the Season 10 finale. The flagship series’ final, expanded season 11 will kick off with eight new episodes. It will be the first of a massive 24-episode story arc that will bring the show’s decade-long successful run to an end.
AT&T and Warner Media announce a $7 million commitment to combat and confront Anti-Asian Hate. This campaign will be a series of public service announcements. Each PSA will give viewers a number to text and donate $10 towards supporting the Asian American Chamber of Commerce.
Disney news – Star Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe
Production on the “Kenobi” series will start this month. Hayden Christiansen, who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episodes II and III, makes his return as Darth Vader. Also, joining the cast are Moses Ingram from The Queen’s Gambit, Kumail Nanjiani from the upcoming Eternals film, Indira Varma from Game of Thrones, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. from Godzilla: King of the Monsters among others.
A new trailer debuted for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. It is an original animated series from Lucasfilm, and it starts streaming on May 4 exclusively on Disney+. The show will debut a special 70-minute premiere, followed by new episodes every Friday starting on May 7. Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch. This group of clones was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This new series will show them finding their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.
Marvel Studios dropped an action-packed trailer for the long-awaited Black Widow film. The new trailer takes Natasha Romanoff on a path to face her past. The film is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War when Natasha is on the run. Black Widow will premiere in theaters and Disney Premiere access on July 9th.
Also, a new trailer for Loki debuted, giving us a more clear look into what to expect from the series. In the trailer, Loki speaks at length with Mobius M. Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, about the consequences of having stolen the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame. The bureaucratic TVA (Time Variance Authority) is dedicated to preserving the timeline, and they need Loki to fix the mistakes he caused by stealing the tesseract. The all-new, original series debuts exclusively on Disney+ on June 11, 2021.
