Zombiecon at LACC

LA Comic Con is so good at having a variety of entertainment options for attendees. Aside from the usual ‘Con fare like panels, a gaming hall and, of course, artist alley there are multiple film screenings. This year there were a couple of impressive and unique films that were showcased and we got the chance to sit down and talk with the creators of one of those films, Zombiecon

Zombiecon is a film produced by a group of friends and is about what happens when cosplayers meet zombies. A film seven years in the making, Zombiecon already has big plans for its sequels. The film is an anime-inspired action adventure and explores the transformative power of friendship, personal choice, love, and the battle between good and evil within oneself.

In a small indie production there are many holes to fill and this team did the best they could to make sure that every role was efficiently handled; each member of the team wears several hats. There were even times when scenes were shot with nothing but a director, a camera, and a mic taped to his arm. This film is as indie as it gets.

We got a chance to talk to some of the members of the production team and we asked real hard hitting questions like how long did production take? And are socks with sandals an acceptable fashion choice? That last question had some fun answers.

The team hopes that the film finds its niche audience (zombie fans, cosplayers, and con-goers of all kinds). If you didn’t get a chance to see the LACC Zombiecon screening, they are looking at a wide release, with a theatrical release hopefully soon to follow. Check out the trailer and get ready to enjoy a classic B-horror movie.
