The mall-set witchy horror-comedy FORBIDDEN FRUITS has officially completed its theatrical run and is now streaming exclusively on Shudder! Described by critics as “Mean Girls meets The Craft,“ this razor-sharp, stylized slasher marks the theatrical debut of director Meredith Alloway. Co-written by Alloway and Lily Houghton (adapting Houghton’s acclaimed off-Broadway stage play), the film is backed by a powerhouse producing team including horror-comedy royalty Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body, Lisa Frankenstein) and Mason Novick.

Toxic Retail Therapy

At the hyper-curated, unnervingly bright Texas mall boutique Free Eden, clothing sales aren’t the only things being pushed. The store’s star employee, Apple (Lili Reinhart), rules the sales floor with a sardonic, iron fist alongside her loyal coworkers, the bubbly Cherry (Victoria Pedretti) and the intellectual Fig (Alexandra Shipp). But after hours, the customer service smiles fade, and the trio descends into the basement to run a secret, witchy femme cult fueled by blood ceremonies, strict cliques, and psychological manipulation.

When a seemingly naive new hire from the food court, Pumpkin (Lola Tung), enters their orbit, she inadvertently challenges their performative sisterhood. As internal power struggles fracture the coven, a former member named Pickle (Emma Chamberlain) re-emerges, forcing the women to confront their own inner poisons before the night ends in a glorious, bloody fate. The stacked cast also features standout performances from legendary actress Gabrielle Union.
