The beloved TRIGUN anime is coming to a close. TRIGUN STARGAZE is the final installment in the legacy series. It is clear the English Dub cast has adored the journey and are not ready for it to end.
In a recent interview with Temple of Geek, David Matranga, who voices Nicholas D. Wolfwood, and Alexis Tipton, who voices Milly Thompson, reflect on the end of an era.
David Matranga Discusses the Challenges of Returning to TRIGUN STARGAZE
From TRIGUN STAMPEDE to TRIGUN STARGAZE, David Matranga explored the tension of opposites when returning to voice the Punisher-wielding Nicholas D. Wolfwood. He admited to overcoming the pressure of wondering if he can truly be as cool as the character is. To prepare, he rewatched the TRIGUN STAMPEDE to get a feel for the world again before locking back into the booth.
I care so much about the story, the journey… and all I want to do is for it to be everything that it’s supposed to be, that Nightow created, that the animators, the artists, the writers, everyone that worked on it. I wanted to be everything that they wanted it to be.
Episode 8 of TRIGUN STARGAZE was his biggest, self-induced challenge of the season. He navigated big character swings while wanting to honor the work of the animators and writers. His method for overcoming the challenge was to get out of his head and reconnect to live in the moment as truthfully as possible.
Alexis Tipton Highlights the Joys of Voicing Milly Thompson
Alexis Tipton joined the cast during TRIGUN STARGAZE, well after her co-stars had been established in TRIGUN STAMPEDE. She dove into the unique challenge of joining the cast as the highly anticipated Milly Thompson, explaining the pressure of making sure the fans who have been waiting for Milly are happy with her performance. She knew she was jumping into a character who already has an established off-screen history and rapport with Meryl.
By the time we meet Milly in Stargaze, which is episode 1, it’s clear that she and Meryl have been together for some period of time. And so, they have rapport. There is history there. And so that’s always interesting, jumping into a character that there’s already relationship happening there, but we didn’t get to see it. So, it has to sound like we have this rapport, we have this familiarity. And, the characters are just so well-written that that’s really easy. Much easier to do with these characters. The pressure was kind of on a little bit, though!
Tipton explored Milly’s cool background as part of a family of “worm tamers” who use the creatures to communicate. She highlighted the hilarious moment when Milly and Meryl finally gang up on Wolfwood, which is something he is definitely not used to.

It’s been two and a half years since the Lost JuLai tragedy laid waste to an entire city and engulfed the whole planet in chaos. Meryl continues her search for Vash with her new younger sidekick, Milly, and runs into Wolfwood along the way.
Meanwhile, Vash has taken the new name, Eriks, and is living in hiding in a backwater town. When he receives an abrupt visit and SOS from the third ship they call home, he acts swiftly to protect those dear to him. As soon as the planet receives good news from the far reaches of outer space, the one-winged angel returns to wreak havoc and despair. Fates collide to forge a conclusion for the panicked planet. TRIGUN STARGAZE is the second season and final journey of TRIGUN STAMPEDE.
