Kenji Miyazawa is a member of the Armed Detective Agency with an ability that grants him super-human strength. His ability is called “Undefeated by the Rain,” which is named after a poem written by the real-life Kenji Miyazawa.
Kenji has blonde, wild hair. Finding the right color blonde for Kenji can be a little tricky as it is a more specific shade than just “blonde.” The Apollo style wig in the color “Caramel Blonde” from Epic Cosplay is almost perfect. Kenji Miyazawa Cosplay
Kenji wears the same outfit throughout the entire series, minus when he is on the run with the Armed Detective Agency in season 4. The first thing you will need for your Kenji Miyazawa cosplay is a set of jean overalls in a lighter denim. Kenji is a farmer, which means his overalls are not neatly-kept. Ripped or gently-worn overalls would be a good choice. Check your local thrift store as well for a pair of inexpensive overalls. Also, in the series, Kenji wears a black belt.
Next, Kenji wears two shirts under the overalls. One is a black long-sleeve or half-sleeve shirt that sits just passed his elbows. Then, on top of that, is an off-white, ripped t-shirt. A simple cotton t-shirt can be purchased at any craft store. Cutting strips into the sleeves is simple, and there is the option to dye it with tea for a more weathered look.
Kenji wears a very basic pair of sandals. However, not everyone is comfortable wearing sandals to conventions. Sandals like these can also hurt after a long period of time. Choose footwear that you are the most comfortable with and do not mind wearing all day.
A prop option for Kenji cosplayers is a stop sign that he uses in season 1 as a weapon. While it is not necessary, it makes for fun photos. Stop signs in Japan are triangular shaped. Paint a piece of PVC pipe or foam grey and attach a red triangle to the top.
Finally, your Kenji Miyazawa cosplay needs a straw hat. Most new straw hats come with a string attached, which makes hanging behind your back possible. If you find one at a thrift or secondhand store and it does not have a string, then use hot glue and yarn to attach your own.
